Alfin Firdaus

Alfin Nurul Firdaus is a student at the University of Melbourne with a specialisation in Waste Management and is currently running an organisation named Waste Reform Indonesia (WRI). WRI focuses on tackling organic and plastic waste in Indonesia by advancing collaboration and partnership with various stakeholders with diverse backgrounds. Alfin has a strong background in community-based waste initiatives, having served as the Senior Community Partnership Manager at Plastic Bank Indonesia, where she developed and managed programs to reduce plastic waste across East Java. Alfin built partnerships with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, faith organisations, and local governments, facilitating community engagement in waste reduction efforts. She also led training sessions for hundreds of participants, educating them on plastic types and sustainable practices. With experience in grassroots and large-scale waste management projects, Alfin is passionate about tackling plastic pollution and advancing sustainability through education, research, partnerships, and community involvement.

Amelinda Kusumaningtyas

Amelinda Kusumaningtyas is a social researcher specialising on the sociotechnical impacts of emerging technologies, content governance, disinformation, and digital inclusion. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Technology Governance at the Australian National University (ANU) on an Australia Awards Scholarship. Amelinda is also part of the Southeast Asia Freedom of Expression Network (SAFENet), advocating for digital rights and human rights-centered internet policies. Prior to moving to Australia, Amelinda was a Research Coordinator at Indonesia’s Center for Digital Society (CfDS), collaborating with stakeholders, tech companies, and international organizations on sociotechnical challenges arising from digital transformation. Her work included involvement with the Fairwork Foundation (2020–2022) for improved digital labor conditions and a climate change-related disinformation project, funded by the Ian Peter Grants for Internet and the Environment. In 2023, she was invited to speak at TrustCon in San Francisco with support from ISIF Asia.

Candra Summa Lesmana

Candra Summa Lesmana is the Special Programs Manager at Australia Awards Indonesia (AAI), a DFAT-funded scholarship program. Australia Awards Indonesia focuses on providing higher education opportunities to Indonesians through Masters, Doctoral, and Short Course scholarship schemes.Candra has worked in this sector since 2017 and is passionate about supporting others to achieve their life goals. Candra finds his role incredibly satisfying as feels that an Australia Awards scholarship can have a significant impact on the recipient’s life trajectory. Candra is dedicated to furthering and strengthening collaboration between Australia and Indonesia through his ongoing work in the higher education sector.

Choky Ramadhan

Choky R. Ramadhan is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law University of Indonesia interested in criminal justice policy, law and development, law and economics, and benefit-cost analysis. He has been working with Indonesian government agencies, international organizations, national NGOs, and Universities to provide research, training, and legal and policy advice on those topics in Indonesia since 2011. In 2024, he was appointed to manage the international cooperation unit at the Faculty of Law University of Indonesia to develop collaboration in education, teaching, and research with partner universities. Choky obtained a Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) from the University of Indonesia and a Master of Asia and Comparative Law (LL.M.) and Doctor of Philosophy in Law (Ph.D.) from the University of Washington (UW) School of Law, with Graduate Certificates in International Development from UW Evans School Public Policy & Governance and Ethics from UW Department of Philosophy.

Dian Marin Purnama

Dian Marin Purnama has been working in the spaces of international development, Australia-Indonesia relations, and education for the last 8 years. She is a Program Manager at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Jakarta, managing programs in the basic education portfolio including with the INOVASI program, the Australia-World Bank Indonesia Partnership – Education, and the Global Partnership for Education Indonesia. As part of her work, Dian focuses on inclusive education, and finds research is an integral component to improving learning outcomes and foundational skills. She recently completed a Master of Social Policy at The University of Melbourne supported by an Australia Awards Scholarship, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Anthropology from The University of Western Australia. Dian has been involved in the Australia-Indonesia youth space since 2013 through the AIYA Western Australia chapter and her previous work with ACICIS.

Febi Trihermanto

Febi Trihermanto has been a Research Officer at the Australia-Indonesia Centre (AIC), based in Jakarta, since 2018. Febi has extensive experience in facilitating research collaborations between Indonesian and Australian researchers; co-leading several research and capacity-building projects including bilateral nursing cooperation, cybersecurity training for small and medium enterprises, and Australia Awards Transport Fellowships Program; and engaging with universities and government agencies in Indonesia for knowledge transfer activities to promote evidence-based policymaking. Febi’s work contributes to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting mutual understanding particularly in the research and higher education sectors. Febi is passionate about enhancing knowledge and cultural exchange between Indonesia and Australia.

Helmy Setiabudi

Helmy Yohanes Setiabudi is currently undertaking a Master of Renewable and Sustainable Energy at Murdoch University. Helmy also holds a Bachelor of Forestry specialising in Forest Product Technology from the University of Papua. He has a professional background in research and forestry where his work has focused on forest biomass as potential solid biofuel and biomass to electricity via thermoelectric generator. Helmy is dedicated to rural empowerment in the Papuan provinces via biomass utilisation as an alternative, renewable energy source.

Jajang Ramadhan

Jajang (Jeje) Ramadhan is a Senior Researcher at the Merchant Services (MSME) department at GoTo, where he has significantly contributed to projects driving digitalization for MSMEs in Indonesia. With over 5 years of experience in product and market research, Jeje possesses a deep understanding of consumer behaviour across various industries, including retail, e-grocery, and financial technology. Jeje is dedicated to fostering the growth of future researchers, and entrepreneurs. Previously Jeje successfully nurtured 13 small-medium merchants in Yogyakarta. Jeje also serves as a research mentor for the 1000 Startup Digital program with the Indonesian Government – Indigo Telkom Indonesia (startup incubator) supporting pre-seed startup founders to gain skills in research design and conducting effective research. He holds degrees in Public Administration and Human Resource Management from Universitas Padjadjaran and Universitas Paramadina Jakarta.

Made Anthony Iswara

Made Anthony Iswara is a researcher passionate about making public policies in Indonesia more effective by ensuring they are backed by solid evidence. With 5+ years of experience in media and policy research as well as a Master’s in Public Policy, Anthony offers a strong mix of strategic communication, policy analysis, and project management, alongside an in-depth knowledge of Indonesia’s public policy and governance to drive impactful projects and foster effective partnerships. Anthony has worked on 10+ projects and 700+ publications that leverage the best evidence to deliver evidence-led solutions to public policy problems. Anthony’s key contributions in Indonesia include improving child wellbeing policies, advocating for equitable Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), and developing adaptive social protection recommendations.

Maman

Maman completed his Masters of Development Studies at the University of Melbourne in 2017 and has been working for several non-profit organisations contributing to address pressing challenges of environmental degradation and the climate crisis, particularly in the marine sectors. He is passionate about integrating a multidisciplinary approach into sustainable marine resource management, balancing addressing human needs with the critical importance of sustaining ecosystem function and biodiversity. He is currently working with Masyarakat dan Perikanan Indonesia (MDPI), a Bali-based non-profit organisation, where he leads a development team focused on strengthening monitoring-evaluation-learning function. Maman hopes to advance multidisciplinary solutions aimed at achieving resilient coastal communities, and equitable and sustainable marine management.

Muhammad Hafiz Noer

Hafiz Noer is the Head of Research at the Center for Digital Society at Universitas Gadjah Mada. He holds a Master’s in Public Administration in Innovation, Public Policy, and Public Value from the University College London, and a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Government from Universitas Gadjah Mada. With a diverse background in consulting, think tanks, and academia, Hafiz has extensive experience and expertise in public policy. He has actively collaborated with both public and private sectors, as well as non-government organisations, providing them insights on implementing institutional change, refining policy planning strategies, and navigating the complex challenges in the evolving technological landscape. Hafiz has contributed to various policy recommendations and scientific research initiatives, particularly focusing on innovation policy, science and technology studies, and public administration.

Adirani Heraputeri

Adirani Heraputeri is a resourceful team player and leader in the early-stage startup ecosystem. She is mission-driven, curious, and enthusiastic and currently a cross-functional Manager at Antler, a global venture capital firm. Indonesian-born, Japan-educated, and now based in Australia, Rani has worked across Southeast Asia and Australia with a globally informed approach. Her diverse background spans government affairs, launching markets and building communities for WeWork in Jakarta, working with Indonesia’s largest angel investment network, founding employee at a pan-Asian gender-lens VC fund, and serving as Global Program Manager at She Loves Tech, the world’s largest startup competition for women and technology. Driven to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, Rani’s agility in connecting the dots across ecosystems makes her a valuable asset in driving meaningful change.

Yosephin Fabiola Nuralita

Yosephin Diva Fabiola Nuralita is a graduate of Sanata Dharma University’s English Language Education study program and currently works as an Indonesian Language Assistant for the Department of Education Western Australia. Additionally, Diva is an event team leader for AIYA Chapter WA and a tutor at Balai Bahasa Indonesia Perth. Her passion lies in teaching Indonesian to second language learners and English to foreign speakers. Diva is actively involved in various cultural and language events in Perth, where she helps to bridge cultures and promote foreign language learning. Through her teaching roles, Diva aims to make language acquisition more accessible and enjoyable for all learners. She aspires to further this work by becoming a BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing) instructor, helping more people to appreciate and master the Indonesian language.
