Embracing 75th Anniversary of Australia-Indonesia Relationship to Foster Youth Collaboration
Tuesday, 3rd September marks a new milestone for CAUSINDY. That evening, the CAUSINDY team together with the Australian Embassy organized a Networking Reception for the CAUSINDY Community. The purpose is to honor the 11 years of outstanding alumni achievements, reconnect, and explore collaboration opportunities.
Distinguished alumni and colleagues were invited to the event on 06.00 PM by having registration and followed by networking opportunities with refreshments. There are more than 60 distinguished CAUSINDY alumni, mentors, and colleagues with various professional backgrounds, from government agencies, private and state-owned companies, media, and entrepreneurs. After a casual networking session, the main event started at 06.30 PM with the opening speech from the Australian Embassy represented by Deputy Ambassador of Australia to Indonesia, Mrs. Gita Kamath, followed by the CEO of CAUSINDY, Jake Turvey.

Representing the Australian Embassy, Deputy Ambassador Kamath conveyed her highest appreciation to the whole CAUSINDY team and alumni for the great contribution to strengthen Australia & Indonesia relationship during the past 11 years. In her speech, she reassures the Embassies support to the CAUSINDY through hosting the networking reception as part of a long year commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Australia-Indonesia Relationship.

Following Deputy Ambassador Kamath speech, Jake Turvey as CAUSINDY CEO also gives his wonderful remarks by appreciating the beautifully organized networking dinner between CAUSINDY team and Embassy staff, especially the Public Diplomacy. Afterwards, he underlines the commitment of the CAUSINDY team to empower young emerging leaders then forge a stronger bilateral relationship between Australia and Indonesia. Over the past 11 years, the team successfully hosted 8 conferences in cities across Australia and Indonesia. The conference attracted interest and participation from state and federal governments, as well as universities, industry, and media in both Australia and Indonesia.
Last year marked the return to in-person conferences after a three year commencing online initiatives during the pandemic such as mentoring between CAUSINDY alumni and AIYA members called PATHWAYS, CAUSINDY Industry and Community Initiatives (CICI), and webinar successfully hosting a sustainable tourism-themed conference in Yogyakarta. CAUSINDY selects 26 delegates, along with dozens of speakers, mentors, media partners, and CAUSINDY volunteers.
Leading up to Conference
For 2024, the CAUSINDY team planned to hold the conference in Australia with a focus on higher education, research, and innovation. This is a great opportunity to bring together key stakeholders working within these fields to promote Australia’s higher education to Indonesia, then highlight key research and innovation partnerships of Australia and Indonesia, and beyond.
After Jake’s speech representing the CAUSINDY team, the Networking reception continued by enjoying a dinner buffet prepared by the Public Diplomacy team of the Australian Embassy. During the dinner, all of the distinguished guests were welcomed to build relationships and reconnect with fellow CAUSINDY alumni and stakeholders. The Networking Reception acts as the first CAUSINDY event of 2024. This starts a sequential event which will lead to a flagship conference event inviting aspiring future leaders of Australia and Indonesia in collaboration with key stakeholders.
